Following Sunday’s tragic Jeju Air crash in South Korea, one of the two survivors, a 33-year-old man, is showing signs of recovery despite sustaining multiple fractures. The survivor is currently receiving treatment at Seoul’s Ewha Hospital under the care of Director Ju Woong.
Director Ju Woong reported that the survivor was admitted to the intensive care unit on Sunday with fractures in his back, limiting his movement. The patient is closely monitored in the ICU, with medical staff providing intensive care.
In addition to physical injuries, the hospital is also addressing the survivor’s mental well-being. The psychiatry department is set to assist in managing potential post-traumatic stress resulting from the crash.
Director Ju Woong emphasized the hospital's approach to handling the survivor's condition with sensitivity. They refrained from delving into specific details about the accident, considering the patient's trauma and current state.
The survivor shared with doctors his realization upon waking up that he had been rescued, indicating a sense of gratitude and awareness of his circumstances.
Both survivors of the crash were members of the flight crew and were rescued from the plane’s tail section after the aircraft caught fire. The female survivor is receiving medical care at Seoul Asan Hospital, as confirmed by hospital officials.
The recovery and well-being of the survivors remain a top priority as medical teams continue to provide necessary treatment and support in the aftermath of the tragic incident.
