The speed limit on Mancunian Way has been reduced significantly this week and we'd like to know what you think of the decision.
The limit dropped from 50mph to 30mph on Monday night (14 February), coming into effect at 9pm following an announcement by Manchester council.
The decision was made as a response to a string of 29 crashes on the road since 2018, including a fatal one earlier this year.
The limit is only temporary currently but may be made permanent if it’s shown to make a significant difference during an 18-month trial.
The latest collisions have also meant that the road will have to be closed on March 12 and 13 for repairs to damaged crash barriers.
The changes to the speed limit have caused division amongst our readers, with many sharing their feelings.
One person disagreeing with the change said: " How to make a road more dangerous 101, apply a speed limit well below what is reasonable knowing half the people won't abide by it."
Another responded saying: " This is a ludicrous idea. How can it be a motorway and have a 30mph limit?"
You can share your thoughts in the survey below but you can also have your say in the comments section.
But others expressed their concern about the dangers of the road, with one commenting on the junctions saying: "They cause chaos. I use that exact stretch a lot & the people suddenly dodging out the slip-roads, pulling out in front of you, or cutting in front to exit is horrendous."
Others agreed, with one saying: "I'm always surprised there aren't more accidents, too many access and exit points too close together. I agree with cutting the speed limit on that section."
"Speed enforcement is the answer," said another reader.
We want to hear more of what you have to say on the issue in our survey, which can be filled in via this link or below:
