The Queen kept a range of daily essentials in her handbag at all times.
The Queen was rarely ever seen without one of her handbags. Always coordinating with her outfits, it became a staple item in her public appearances.
She preferred a black Launer bag which she was said to have over 200 different variants off. Her favourites included the black leather Royale, the black patent Traviata and a custom handbag, according to Launer CEO Gerald Bodmer.

With so many staff around her at all times, it begged the question of what she carried for herself. Though many aspects of the Queen's personal preferences have been kept well under wraps, some details about the contents of her bag have come to light.
According to Hello! magazine, there were some items she always kept with her. The Queen carried regular daily items such as her reading glasses, a handkerchief, mints, a fountain pen, a small mirror, lipstick and a metal make-up case, which was a gift from Prince Philip.
It was also reported she kept small good luck charms including a miniature dog or horse along with family photos. The Queen also had a secret code for her team which she used to signal their interventions.
If she passed her bag from arm to arm, it meant she wanted one of her ladies-in-waiting to interrupt the conversation. Placing it on the floor signalled she wanted to leave immediately. If the bag ever found its way on top of a table, it was a sign she wanted her meal to end within the next five minutes.
