“Surgeons have to equip themselves with the latest techniques to keep up with modern day challenges,’’ G. Siddesh, national president of Association of Surgeons, said in Belagavi on Monday.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 40th Continued Medical Education (CME) series at KLE Centenary Convention Centre, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, in Belagavi.
Medical science is evolving and the medical fraternity must keep itself abreast with the latest skills, knowledge, techniques and should update learning abilities, he said. Exchange of thoughts, ideas and innovations are part of the learning process which ultimately culminate in developing surgical skills. These can be achieved in CME sessions, he said.
Later, delivering the B.S. Jirge Oration, Dr. Siddesh said that increased entry of women in the field of medicine is a welcome trend.
“Being a lifelong learner is the hallmark of medical professionals. And, we are promoting research in a big way,” said Vice-Chancellor of KAHER Vivek Saoji.
Registrar of KAHER V.A. Kothiwale, HoD of OBG Anita Dalal, Principal of JNMC N.S. Mahantshetti, Shrishail Metgud and others spoke. Over 500 delegates participated.
