Love Island fans have reacted to the dating show playing a Stormzy song on Wednesday night’s episode, believed to be about new host, Maya Jama.

The Grime rapper and Jama dated for four years, before they split in 2019 following reports that he was unfaithful.

Following the breakup, Stormzy released a string of tracks fans believed were about 28-year-old Jama, including Hide & Seek, the song featured on last night’s show.

The song, which has the lyric, "Oh, girl, you’re shining. You know you’re my diamond", played while contestants Ron and Tanya were on their dates with bombshells Zara and David.

One viewer tweeted: "Did they let Maya know they’re playing Stormzy’s song on her show?"

Another said: "Not them playing one of Stormzy’s love songs to Maya right now knowing she’s the host and watching."

A third commented: "They are not playing the Stormzy song he made for Maya on her show, surely not?"

While a fourth wrote: “THE SONG? not Stormzy’s dream in 4K? someone bring Maya Jama right now pls .”

Late last year, Jama was announced as the replacement for Laura Whitmore who stepped down from the role after two years as host.

Fans heaped praise on her debut while taking a dig at her predecessor Whitmore when the show returned on Monday night.

Jama impressed viewers with her presenting skills while many claimed that she had already been in the villa more times than Whitmore, 37, was in an entire series.

One wrote on social media: “Maya Jama’s already had more airtime than Laura Whitmore did for a whole series of #LoveIsland.”

Another commented: “I hope they pay Maya double what they paid Laura as she’s already doing double the work lol. I love her. Laura was so meh. Good change!”
