SURAT: Three patients admitted to the Covid-19 hospital on the premises of the New Civil Hospital (NCH) died on Tuesday. It is suspected the deaths were due to Covid-19 infection, however, Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) health officials are yet to confirm it.
The deceased include a 67-year-old man from Navsari Bazaar area of the city whose RTPCR and rapid antigen test both were positive for Covid-19 infection. He was under treatment from June 30.
Another death recorded was of a 70-year-old man from Bhatar area. He was hospitalized on Monday and died on Tuesday.
The third case was of a 44-year-old man from Ved Road. He had tested negative for coronavirus but showed symptoms similar to those infected with Covid-19. Based on the man’s clinical examination and severe chest infection, he was admitted to Covid-19 hospital on July 13.
“We have not got the information of the deaths from the death audit committee. If the persons have died today their details will be shared with SMC after due process,” said a health official of SMC.
Meanwhile, the number of positive cases dropped to 57 in the city on Tuesday. Sixty-seven people were discharged leaving only 19 under treatment in the hospital. SMC officials said that there were 474 active cases in the city on Tuesday.
