Attention hype beasts, Burberry and Supreme are officially teaming up.
Talks of the collaboration have been circulating since January when the Instagram account Supreme Leaks suggested to its 2.1 million followers that a potential partnership was on the horizon. However, this weekend it was finally confirmed via rapper A$AP Nast’s Instagram.
Pictured in a denim two-piece featuring the British fashion house’s signature chequered print and both brands’ logos, the stylish New Yorker shared the image to his 750,000 followers while shouting out Supreme’s newly named Creative Director Tremaine Emeroy. Understandably, streetwear kids have been salivating ever since.
Collaborations may be a tried and tested strategy for the brand – in the past year alone, Supreme has joined forces with Nike, Duraflame, Shrek and The North Face. However, this partnership marks the first luxury fashion crossover since Supreme’s 2017 collection with Louis Vuitton, which is largely credited for spawning the onslaught of big-name tie-ups that have defined the fashion industry in the last few years.
To feed the excitement, the look book – modelled by familiar faces such as skateboarder Blondey McCoy and Soldier Boyfriend, cofounder of Nigerian skate collective Motherlan – was revealed this morning.
Alongside the two-piece modelled by A$AP Nast, punters can look forward to a co-branded rendition of Burberry’s iconic trench coat in a black and pink colour way, denim trucker jackets with matching straight-leg jeans, and down puffer jackets. Also available are a selection of fun accessories like caps, bucket jackets, skate dates and a not to be missed silk pyjama set.
This isn’t the first time the American streetwear brand has paid homage to Burberry. Twenty five-years-ago, Supreme released a Box Logo Tee in the iconic plaid design. Although it was never officially released, the rare tees remain incredibly sought after, with some fetching thousands of dollars on resale sites such as Stock X and Grailed.
So don’t miss the upcoming drop. The Supreme x Burberry Spring 2022 collaboration will be released globally on March 10 – the day before Riccardo Tisci is due to debut his first IRL Burberry show in London for over two years.
