Supreme Court Rejects Green Party Appeal In Nevada Ballot

The Supreme Court has declined an emergency appeal from Nevada's Green Party to include presidential candidate Jill Stein on the state's ballot. This decision, made without any noted dissents, allows Nevada to proceed with ballot preparation and printing without Stein and other Green Party candidates.

The ruling is seen as a win for Democrats, who had contested the Green Party's presence on the ballot in a state known for closely contested elections. In the 2020 presidential race, President Joe Biden secured victory over former President Donald Trump in Nevada by a margin of fewer than 35,000 votes.

The legal battle began when the state's Democratic party challenged Stein's inclusion on the ballot after the Green Party submitted the required number of signatures. Initially, a lower state court ruled in favor of Stein, but the state Supreme Court later determined that the petition forms were flawed.

Representing the Green Party at the Supreme Court was Jay Sekulow, a close ally of former President Trump who had been part of Trump's legal team during his first impeachment trial.
