Supreme Court grants interim bail to man accused of killing wife

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Uttar Pradesh man, who is lodged in jail for allegedly killing his wife, and also directed the state government to provide him adequate security. 

Notable, Allahabad High Court has refused to give him the bail. He approached the High Court for four times to get the bail in connection with the case.  

Arif, a resident of Chirodi village in Ghaziabad district, allegedly killed his wife Aasifa, daughter of Riaz, in September 2020. In this case, an FIR was registered against Arif at Loni police station in Ghaziabad. He was charged under sections 498 A, 304 B, 323, 504, 506, and 302.

Two-member bench
A bench of Justices MM Sundresh and Arvind Kumar granted the accused two-week interim bail to attend his brother Mohammad Murshid's wedding.


The Apex Court granted temporary bail between October 24 and November 7 to attend his brother's wedding, citing special circumstances. The Court also ordered the Uttar Pradesh authorities to provide adequate security and supervision during this period. Arif must return to jail by November 8.

Accused Representatives

Advocate Mohd. Anas Chaudhary argued on behalf of petitioner Arif, along with advocates Pulkit Agarwal, Mohd. Sharyab Ali, Shahla Chaudhary, Jazib Siddiqui, Jay Gyan, and Advocate-on-Record Ansar Ahmed Chaudhary.

Arif's advocates told Dynamite News that the Supreme Court has granted Arif interim bail without any bail bond, considering special circumstances. This matter was brought to the Supreme Court through a Special Leave Petition (SLP).
