Supporters back Bruno Guimaraes to start for Newcastle United against Southampton tonight

Newcastle fans want Bruno Guimaraes to make his first start in a black-and-white shirt against Southampton tonight. The Magpies’ £40million midfielder is yet to feature in the starting line-up since his January move, with Eddie Howe patiently introducing the Brazilian to the rigours of English football.

Just 39 minutes of Premier League football has supporters clamouring for more and a congested fixture list offers Newcastle the perfect chance to blood their new man into the team. An in-form Magpies side are unchanged in their last three outings. However, four tricky away fixtures against Southampton, Chelsea, Everton and Spurs means Howe will likely freshen things up to maintain the seven-point cushion between themselves and the bottom three.

ChronicleLive readers have also called for Javier Manquillo and Allan Saint-Maximin to return to the fold. Neither have started since the 1-0 victory against Aston Villa last month, with the former hobbling off that day with an ankle injury. Howe has kept his faith in Emil Krafth - who had a solid game last weekend - but supporters would still prefer to see Manquillo in the side.

Fans’ favourite Saint-Maximin is the one player who can conjure something out of nothing for Newcastle and it is no surprise supporters want to see him on the team sheet tonight. The winger failed to impress when he came off the bench against Brighton, but an on-song Saint-Maximin could be the difference between getting a result and walking away empty-handed this evening.
