Tissot has incorporated the ground-breaking SwALPS low-energy operating system, which runs on solar power and offers six months' autonomy.
When it was introduced in 2020, SwALPS was the first OS to be compatible with iOS, Android and Harmony.
The dial is made of one solar cell that will continue to charge the watch as long as it is exposed to light. The Super-LumiNova detailing further enhances legibility in low-light conditions.
The Swiss brand partnered with some of the world's biggest sporting events and championships in developing the T-Touch Connect Solar collection.
New functions include setting the watch to display live scores from the NBA and the world's leading cycling events, including the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France and La Vuelta.
A new "bring me back" navigation tool will be of particular interest to hikers, mountaineers, trail cyclists and many others. It uses emergency GPS that allows users to determine the distance and direction to their point of origin.
This function will further evolve to track your path and retrace your steps, working even when you're out of range of a phone signal.
The software will also be updated so that you can share your activity data with other applications such as Apple Health, Google Fit and Huawei Health.
Matched with a textile or leather strap, the T-Touch Connect Solar models also feature useful day-to-day functions, including a weather trend, an altimeter, a compass, an alarm, a timer and an outdoor tracker with a route logbook.
The watch can also be set through a smartphone app to show on-screen messages, emails, reminders, social media updates and calls.
It also carries some familiar quality signifiers such as a sapphire crystal over the dial, a robust rotating crown for function selection, a backlight and 100m of water resistance.
While this latest expression of the T-Touch philosophy is clearly a connected device, it's much more than a gadget. The model with three hands can be disconnected so that it can be worn as nothing more than a beautifully designed and engineered wristwatch.
