Superyacht 'belonging to J-Lo's ex Marc Anthony' destroyed by flames in Miami marina

A yacht believed to belong to American singer Marc Anthony has capsized on fire near an island in Miami, according to US media.

Videos from the scene show the 120ft luxury boat in a blaze off of Watson Island in Florida where it is docked.

Reports say the ship is owned by Jennifer Lopez's ex-husband Mr Anthony.

In one tweet, a 7News reports wrote: "Sources are telling us the 120-boat currently on fire while docked at Watson Island is owned by recording artist Marc Anthony. No injuries."

Dozens of firefighters from the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County departments rushed on speedboats to save the Adiamo yacht and extinguished the blaze.

Dramatic scenes saw officers battling the inferno with flames being fought from both dockside and the water.

Another tweet by the on-scene reporter described the boat as a "total loss", while a video showed it on its side sunken into the water.

“It’s still a very active scene right now,” Miami Fire Rescue Captain Ignatius Carroll told reporters.

“Because of the amount of fire on that ship, we had to take more of a defensive attack, so we have our fireboats with Miami-Dade County as well.”

Mr Anthony was not on board at the time but, six or seven crew members were on board and were successfully evacuated.

A family member of the marina's owners said: "It's sad, dog.

"For us, as the marina and for the boat themselves, firstly, it’s important for people’s lives, but obviously then for the boat and for everyone’s safety, so right now, everything is under control.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
