Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick is mourning his beloved mother Rita, following her death on Wednesday aged 92.
Mrs Fitzpatrick was often fondly spoken of by her TV star son on his hit show, The Supervet, and he travelled home to Mountmellick, Co Laois regularly to see her.
His father Sean, the man he still called his hero, died in was August 2006 after collapsing on the family farm while Noel was working in England.
A death notice for his mum Rita was published on Wednesday. It read: "Our beloved mother, Rita Fitzpatrick (92), passed away peacefully in her home at Esker, Mountmellick, on Wednesday 2 February.
"Rita was predeceased by her husband Sean, brothers Tom, Sean and Pat, her sister Marie and her daughter-in-law Sheila.
She is mourned by her sister Philomena, her children John, Mary, Frances, Grace, Noel and Josephine, her daughter-in-law Geraldine, her sons-in-law Robert, Liam, Willie and Patrick, her brother-in-law PJ, her sisters-in-law Bernie, Ettie and Sadie, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, wonderful neighbours and everyone in her care team."
It is six months since Noel revealed his had lost his beloved dog Keira to old age a year after she was seriously injured in a hit and run incident near his practice in Surrey, England.
Mrs Fitzpatrick's removal will take place today, Thursday February 3 at 7pm to arrive in Saint Fintan’s Church, Ballyfin at 7:30pm.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 4at 11am followed by her burial in the new cemetery in Ballyfin.
The Fitzpatrick family has asked that the house remains private on Friday morning with family flowers only. Donations, if desired can be made to Laois Hospice.
