Certain batches of 11 different rice products are being urgent recalled from SuperValu and Centra stores across Ireland.
The specific batches are being urgently taken off shelves "due to the possible presence of insects".
Among the affected items are long grain, basmati, brown and wholegrain rice.
The products originated in the Netherlands and recall notices will be displayed in the shops across the country where the implicated batches were sold.
An alert about the SuperValu and Centra recall was issued by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland on Thursday.
The FSAI said: "SuperValu and Centra are recalling the above batches of rice products due to the possible presence of insects.
"Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batches.
It comes as Aldi announced it is taking a batch of one of its popular chicken products out of stores over food safety concerns.
The retail giant is recalling its Roosters Gluten Free Breaded Chicken Fillet Goujons due to the possible presence of salmonella.
The affected products have a pack size of 400g, the batch code 211216, 16:00:00, 16.12.2021, and best before date of December 16, 2022.
Symptoms caused by salmonella can develop anytime between six and 72 hours after an affected product has been consumed.
The most common symptom is diarrhoea, while other signs may include fever, headache and abdominal cramps.
An alert about the Aldi recall was also issued by the FSAI on Thursday.
