Supernatural actor Nicki Aycox has died at the age of 47 following a two-year battle with leukaemia.

Aycox’s sister-in-law Susan Raab Ceklosky confirmed her passing in a Facebook post.

She wrote: “My beautiful, smart, fierce, incredibly talented, and loving sister-in-law, Nicki Aycox Raab, passed away yesterday with my brother, Matt Raab, by her side.

“Nicki and [her husband] Matt had a wonderful life together in California.

“She was definitely a fighter and everyone who knew her loved her.”

Aycox, who hailed from Oklahoma, starred on Supernatural between 2006 and 2008. She played Meg Masters alongside Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki.

Supernatural creator Erik Kripke paid tribute to Aycox on Twitter. “Gutted to hear the great Nicki Aycox, our first Meg Masters, passed away,” he said. “Too young. She was a delight and delivered lines like honey and venom. I marvel at how she made a simple word like ‘lackluster’ legendary.”

Aycox’s Supernatural co-star Jim Beaver, who played Bobby Singer, also added a Twitter tribute. “My first Supernatural episode was with Nicki,” he said.

“She was a terrific actress and a delightful colleague. I’m so sad to hear of her death. Sleep well, my friend.”

Aycox’s television credits also include Cold Case, LAX, Ed, Law & Order, Las Vegas, Dark Blue, USA High, Dark Angel, Ally McBeal, The X-Files, Boy Meets World and Providence.

Her last acting role was in the 2014 film Dead on Campus, in which she played Danielle Williams. She previously starred in films such as Jeepers Creepers 2, Perfect Stranger, Tom Cool, Christina and The Girl on the Train.

In 2015, she turned her attention to music and released her debut EP, Red Velvet Room.
