Supermarket opening times for Easter: Tesco, Asda, Lidl and more

Shoppers should expect large branches to be shut on Easter Sunday - (PA)

Easter weekend is almost upon us, which means people are looking forward to some time off work and are stocking up on Easter eggs and preparing to indulge in hot cross buns.

Many will enjoy an extra-long weekend thanks to Good Friday and Easter Monday, and, as with other major holidays, there will be some changes to shop opening times and transport schedules.

And, those who want to squeeze in some last-minute shopping or top up on treats they have run out of on Sunday are reminded that full-sized supermarkets will be shut on April 19. Although most supermarkets open on bank holidays, national holidays and other festive days, retail staff need a break as well as everyone else.

In fact, UK trading laws specify that large shops have to close on Easter Sunday.

As a result, you should to be aware of shortened opening hours and store closures. Here are the key supermarket opening times for Easter 2025.
