Supermarket opening times for King Charles III Coronation from Tesco to Asda and Aldi

King Charles III will be officially crowned later this week and an additional bank holiday has been introduced to celebrate.

This means supermarkets across the UK will be adjusting their opening times.

The King's Coronation is this Saturday (May 6) and the bank holiday will be the following Monday (May 8).

If you need to make a last-minute supermarket run ahead of the big day, we explain what opening times you can expect.

As opening times can vary across the UK, you should always check your local supermarkets' online checker tool first to see the exact opening hours for your local store.

Tesco

Tesco told The Mirror its stores will operate with normal trading hours this Saturday (May 6) and Sunday (May 7).

For larger sites, this means they'll open at either 6am or 7am and shut anywhere between 10pm and midnight on Saturday.

On Sundays, most larger sites will open at 10am until 4pm - Scottish stores can open longer and will be open from either 8am or 9am until 10pm.

On the bank holiday Monday (May 8) most Tesco stores will open from 8am to 6pm - some may be open until 8pm. This includes Scottish stores.

Tesco Express stores will be open as normal for the bank holiday Monday opening at 6am or 7am and closing between 10pm and 11pm.

Morrisons

On Saturday and Sunday, Morrisons will be trading under their normal hours.

Usually Morrisons opens at either 6am or 7am and closes at 10pm or 11pm on Saturdays.

This is the same for Sunday with stores opening from 10am until 4pm or 11am until 5pm, for stores in England and Wales.

In Scotland, stores are normally open 8am until 8pm.

On the Coronation bank holiday Monday, the majority of Morrisons stores will be open from 7am until 8pm in England and Wales.

Scottish sites will trade under their usual opening hours of 7am until 10pm on Monday.

Sainsbury's

On Saturday, the day of King Charles' Coronation, Sainsbury's superstores will be open at either 6am or 7am and will shut at either 10pm or 11pm.

On Sunday, Sainsbury's stores in England and Wales will be open from 10am to 4pm.

However, Scottish Sainsbury's stores are open longer from 8am until 8pm with some open until 10pm on Sunday.

When the bank holiday arrives on Monday, superstores in England and Wales will open under slightly shorter hours.

Sainsbury's told The Mirror that the majority of its stores will be open from 8am until 8pm - Scottish stores will be open for a little longer with most opening until 10pm.

Sainsbury's convenience stores will be open from normal on bank holiday Monday from 7am until either 10pm or 11pm.

Asda

Asda will be operating under normal hours over the Coronation weekend, with larger stores opening between 6am and 7am and close at around 10pm - Asda's 24 hour sites also close at 10pm on Saturdays.

On Sunday most Asda superstores will open from either 10am or 11am, until 4pm or 5pm.

On the bank holiday, the majority of Asda stores will be opening from 7am to 8pm.

Aldi

On Saturday, Aldi stores will be opening as normal from 8am and closing at 10pm.

On Sunday, Aldi stores in England and Wales will be open for six hours from 10am until 4pm, or 11am until 5pm.

Scottish stores will be open from 9am until 8pm as their Sunday trading laws are different.

On the Coronation bank holiday Monday, Aldi stores in England and Wales will close slightly earlier than usual opening from 8am until 8pm - Aldi sites in Scotland will open until 10pm as usual.
