Popular high street store Superdrug is set to launch a health and beauty marketplace that will aid several new premium brands, as well as offering a space for sustainable, gender-neutral and Black-owned companies. It's been widely reported that Superdrug Marketplace will drop in September, and it's hoped to be a “space for diverse innovators and [will] remove barriers to entry”, according to the company.
The aim is to aid companies that need a helping hand to gain presence in the national market. Superdrug will work with independent creators to help promote these new brands that would otherwise remain relatively unknown.
Customers will be able to see what's up for grabs via their nationwide platform, and the marketspace will form a part of the Superdrug website. The company is now reaching out to brands that feel they may have been cast aside to get in touch to be in with a chance of featuring on the marketspace.

Superdrug has said it will mainly aim to work with female-owned, gender-neutral and Black-owned brands. The news comes after the company continues work to develop its “Shades of You” pledge to diversity and inclusion in retail.
Matt Walburn, customer, marketing, and online director at Superdrug, told Professional Beauty : “The Superdrug Marketplace will be a vital step for our business as we look to strengthen further our role in H&B retail and start to build into new associated categories. We’ve been looking at ways to bring innovative and growing brands into our business more quickly and in the appropriate way to test consumer reaction.
“This is a crucial next step in bolstering our online and offline strategy; marketplace inventory will eventually be available to purchase virtually instore as well as online. This launch will make a listing with Superdrug now possible for more up-and-coming brands and give our customers a wider range to enjoy, from luxury to trending beauty and wellness hacks.” To keep up to date with all the latest shopping news sign up to our WalesOnline newsletter.
