Superdrug shoppers can't believe they missed this simple trick to heavy bags

We’ve all done it, spent a long time thinking one thing only to finally discover the true meaning years later.

One shopper says she was “today years old” when she realised Superdrug carrier bags have a trick to strengthening the handle and keeping shopping contained.

TikTok user @maseyelizabethxx shared a video to the platform entitled “Who knew?”, showcasing her new found discovery.

Find out what's on in your area:

The video, which has been viewed more than 50,000 times, shows Masey opening a Superdrug carrier bag to make the inside of the handle visible, where there is a piece of clear plastic on each side.

She then peels off the plastic to seal the bag closed and shows off the now stronger handled bag.

Many were quick to share their disbelief that they’d never known the fact before, while others say Masey is doing it all wrong.

One person commented: “Same I just found out about this today!”, while another said: “Omg!! Never knew this x”.

A third wrote: “Never knew this and I’ve been working in Superdrug 10 years now”.

Others said Masey had missed the true intention of the extra layer of plastic, insisting that it was not meant to be peeled off but rather was here just to reinforce the handle.

One person added: “This isn’t correct, it's literally to make the bag stronger so it doesn’t break with heavy things in there.”

Another said: “It’s to reinforce the handles so they don’t stretch or break when there is stuff in”.

Many defended the video, adding that while the trick might not be ‘correct’, it was still a “good life hack”.
