Arsenal duo Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have been ranked in the top five for best value transfer in the summer window by a supercomputer. The pair were part of a huge investment made into the playing squad to back Mikel Arteta's project in pushing for a top four finish.
It comes after a season of near misses for the Gunners, who came so close to making a top four finish but faltered at the final hurdle. A mixture of a lack of squad depth and a goalscoring striker were the main issues facing Arteta going into the summer break with the need to reinforce in the window.
They did just that, which left the Spaniard very pleased with the business they managed to conduct: "The club has done a phenomenal job, and put everything on the table to try to bring in the players and the profile that we wanted."

He then added: "We pushed to strengthen the team and bring the best possible people and players into this football club, and we have managed that to a certain level. Then we have our limitations; time was a big limitation in what happened in the last 72 hours with our midfield [injuries]. We tried to act but we couldn't find the right player.”
One thing that has become clearer in the Premier League in recent years is that money spent doesn't always correlate to signing the right or best players. Arsenal have been stung by their own issues when it comes to signing players, while other clubs have looked to make smart deals to get the best value from the market possible as an advantage.
However, a switch in strategy has seen the Gunners move to younger players and those of a profile that fits the style of play. Jesus and Zinchenko were two technically excellent players who fit those perfectly, also offering plenty of versatility to the squad on top of that.
Arsenal paid just £45million for their new Brazilian striker, while the addition of the Ukrainian defender-turned-midfielder made the switch for roughly £30million. And according to the Twenty First Group, those two deals rank in the top five for the summer in terms of value.
Their supercomputer has put an actual value next to how much they moved for, claiming that Erling Haaland demonstrated the best value after his move to Manchester City. Jesus is second, claiming the 25-year-old's actual value should be over £100million in the current market.
Third if Raheem Sterling, with Zinchenko ranking fourth for value with Liverpool's Fabio Carvalho rounding out the top five in the Premier League. It shows the great work made to ensure the right players join the club but also at the right price to make sure it is sustainable.
The Arsenal duo have already looked to meet the standards of Haaland, who has set the league alight since joining. The pair make it into the WhoScored top rankings for the early start to the campaign alongside the Norwegian hitman.
Given their form, there will be hopes that can continue going into some tougher fixtures that wait on the horizon for Arsenal.
