The famous Adelaide 500 has been rebranded as Supercars launches a new finals format.
From November, the season-ending round will be known as the Adelaide Grand Final.
In addition to the regular 250km races on Saturday and Sunday, a 100km sprint will be held on the Friday in an action-packed weekend.
The finals series will eliminate championship contenders from 10 to four across the preceding rounds, before Adelaide hosts the decider.
The highest point-scoring driver across the grand final will be crowned champion in a major overhaul of the Supercars series.
"The Adelaide 500 has always had pride of place on the national motorsport calendar, but the advent of the BP Adelaide Grand Final will take that to the next level," South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas said on Wednesday.
"The event will only get better, with the new format of the BP Adelaide Grand Final ensuring that we play host to the season decider every year."
The Adelaide 500 was put on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic as the previous state government attempted to cancel the event.
Adelaide was traditionally the season-opening race until it relaunched as the decider when it returned in 2022.
