A PERFORMER in Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show has been detained and could face charges after unfurling a combination Palestinian-Sudanese flag.
The American NFL confirmed the person was part of the 400-member field cast for the annual concert.
The New Orleans Police Department said in a statement that “law enforcement is working to determine applicable charges in this incident".
“The individual will (be) banned for life from all NFL stadiums and events,” a NFL spokesperson said.
The performer stood on a car used as a prop for Lamar’s performance and held up the flag.
The NFL said “the individual hid the item on his person and unveiled it late in the show” and that “no one involved with the production was aware of the individual’s intent".

Roc Nation, the company which produced the show, said that the act “was neither planned nor part of the production and was never in any rehearsal".
The show continued without interruption, and it did not seem as though the person was shown on the broadcast of Lamar’s performance.
President Trump was in attendance at the event, which saw the Philadelphia Eagles deny the Kansas City Chiefs their fifth win of the American football championship.
The President last week outlined a plan that endorses the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, saying that the US would “take over” Gaza and “own it”.
In a joint press conference with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said that Gaza could become the “Riviera of the Middle East” while refusing to rule out sending US troops to occupy the territory.
The American president told journalists that “the only reason the Palestinians want to go back to Gaza is they have no alternative”.
He added: “It’s right now a demolition site. This is just a demolition site. Virtually every building is down.”
