Former New England Patriots running back James White had a little fun at coach Jerod Mayo’s expense when appearing on the “Patriots Daily Podcast” on Wednesday.
He hilariously recalled Mayo being one of the loudest players in the locker room back in the days. However, he expects that energy and strong personality to carry his former teammate to success as a head coach.
“I think he’ll do a great job. I think for Mayo, as a player, he brought energy. He has a loud mouth,” said White. “He can talk. You know what I mean? Like, you walk into the locker room and his locker was one of the first ones when you walked in when I was there.
“You hear him from one end all the way to the next, whether it’s competing on the practice field, competing in the locker room playing games—whatever it may be. He knew the game front to back.”
What does legendary #Patriots running back James White think about coach Jerod Mayo? 🤔

Mayo will need to bring that same energy to a Patriots team that is looking to rebuild in the post-Bill Belichick era.
It will be interesting to see how Mayo’s style resonates with players in his first year as head coach. Perhaps he can finally give the team the boost needed to get back on the winning track.
