Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce are two of the coolest guys in the NFL and they will make some pretty awesome history in Arizona when they become the first two brothers to play against each other in a Super Bowl.
I mean, on paper it doesn’t get much cooler than that. Imagine even dreaming that as a kid? That you and the other fella that has a bedroom next to yours will some day play in the biggest football game in the world and one of you will become a champion again?
Pretty darn crazy.
And pretty darn sweet.
Jason Kelce, who plays center for the Philadelphia Eagles, had the perfect reaction Sunday night when he found out he’ll be playing his younger brother, Travis Kelce, who plays tight end for the Chiefs, in Super Bowl 57.
Travis Kelce spoke after Sunday’s win over the Bengals about how cool this is going to be for their mom, Donna, who will have one of her sons hoisting the Lombardi Trophy into the air a week from Sunday. I’m sure their father, Ed, can’t wait to experience this, too.
But it also has to be kind of a nightmare for the Kelce family, right? Don’t get me wrong – this is awesome and an incredible thing for the family to experience but I have to imagine the joy of watching one of their sons win a championship will also come with the sadness of watching one of their sons fall short of winning a championship.
You have to think that will hurt a little bit and take away some of the fun of celebrating the winning son.
I’m getting pangs of anxiety just thinking about it!
Also, Super Bowl Sunday for parents with sons playing in the game should be this wild day where you can’t wait to watch them play on one of the biggest stages in all of sports, knowing that by the end of the night you could be celebrating an incredible achievement.
But, again, for the Donna and Ed Kelce they will know all day long that it’s going to go poorly for one of their boys and that has to take away some of the fun of what will be a day they’ll never forget.
I’m sure they’ll all be able to handle it well and the losing brother will be happy for the winning brother and the Kelces will one day celebrate the incredible history that they made by just playing against each other in the Super Bowl.
What they’re about to do is just so darn cool.
I just hope Super Sunday isn’t too hard on their parents.
