Sunderland youngster set for Scotland loan move in search of game time

Sunderland youngster Jacob Carney could be in line for a loan move to Scottish Championship side Queens Park, according to reports. Alan Nixon of the Sun claims the 21-year-old will link up with Owen Coyle's side due to the good relationship between the former Burnley boss and Alex Neil.

Carney arrived at the Stadium of Light after departing Manchester United last summer and has been a mainstay in between the sticks for the Black Cats U23's. The youngster made his debut for the first team in their 2-1 win over Manchester United U21's in the Papa John's Trophy last season.

He was unable to force his way up the pecking order last year with Anthony Patterson taking plenty of plaudits after his return from a loan at Notts County. The Black Cats academy star is the latest to break into the first team and the Wearsiders will be hoping Carney's reported loan is able to produce similar results.

Coyle and Neil were both on the books at Dunfermline and are understood to have a good relationship. It won't be Carney's first taste of senior football having spent time on loan with Stocksbridge and Portadown.
