Sunderland to be backed by sell-out 2,500 away following at Middlesbrough

Sunderland will be backed by more than 2,500 fans at Middlesbrough next month after selling out their full allocation of tickets. The Black Cats take on Boro at the Riverside on Monday, September 5, in a game that will be screened live on Sky Sports.

And Sunderland today announced that all 2,575 tickets they have been given for the game have been sold. Alex Neil's side has picked up eight points from their first five games since returning to the Championship, and face back-to-back home games against Norwich City on Saturday and Rotherham United on Wednesday before they travel to Teesside.

Chris Wilder's Boro have collected three points from their first five games and will take on Swansea City at home on Saturday and then make the trip to Watford on Tuesday before Sunderland arrive in town. It will be the first meeting between Sunderland and Boro since February 2018 when the sides fought out a 3-3 draw at the Stadium of Light.
