A Sunderland shop manager has described Michelle Hanson as "chirpy and cheerful", as an investigation into her murder continues.
Michelle Hanson was found dead at a home in Brady Street in Pallion, Sunderland on December 3 and a murder investigation was subsequently launched. A Northumbria Police inquiry remains ongoing and the force is still attempting to trace suspect Alexander Carr following the discovery of the 47-year-old's body.
It has since been confirmed that 32-year-old Carr is a student at the University of Sunderland and fellow classmates of his recently received an email offering support services. A fortnight on from Michelle's death, those who remember her have spoken about her happy personality.
Dave Mustard, the manager of Super Saver Stores on St Luke's Terrace, regularly encountered Michelle in his shop. Speaking to The Chronicle, the 54-year-old said: "Well, she would basically come in and would buy her Frosty Jack, she always paid for everything, there was nothing wrong with her in that sense, we never had to watch her or anything. But she was cheerful enough, I only really knew her because she was quite loud, but that's all I could really tell about her. She lived about two streets down from us and would come in daily buying her alcohol. But she was chirpy and cheerful enough and in here basically every day, she was a regular customer."
As police inquiries move forward, a £10,000 Crimestoppers reward for information has been issued which could lead to the arrest of student, Alexander Carr. Police consider him to be potentially dangerous and members of the public are urged not approach him and instead call the police immediately.
Speaking of Carr, Dave added: "I don't really know him but I had seen him a couple of times in here, mostly on a night. It was mostly my night-time staff who dealt with him. I never saw them both together, but I'm not on the till all that much."
Anyone with information that can assist the search for Carr is asked to report it to police by calling 999 quoting log NP-20221203-0434. If you wish to pass on information anonymously and be eligible for the £10,000 reward, please do so by visiting www.crimestoppers-uk.org or call 0800 555 111.
