The newest addition to Sunderland’s seafront has announced plans to add bottomless brunches to the menu starting this weekend.
Tin of Sardines gin bar opened in Roker on 16 June, offering visitors tea, coffee, pastries and cakes as well as a tasty food menu alongside over 200 varieties of gin and 50 mixers. Housed in a former toilet block, the venue boasts a picturesque outdoor terrace peering over Roker Pier with panoramic beach views.
The swanky new venue announced earlier this week that they will launch bottomless brunches starting on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June. The bottomless menu includes unlimited Prosecco, unlimited G&Ts made from selected gins and mixers, and a mouth-watering cheese and charcuterie board.
Priced at £30 per person for a two-hour booking or £40 for a champagne upgrade, news of the bottomless brunches has already gone down a storm on social media. So many customers snapped up the initial slots that Tin of Sardines announced via their Facebook page that the brunches will now be a permanent weekend fixture.
The Sunderland bar is the third venue from father and son duo Lord Trevor and Ben Davis, who opened the first Tin of Sardines in Durham back in 2017 - renowned for its claim to fame as the world’s smallest gin bar. Despite stocking hundreds of gin varieties Durham’s tiny Elvet Bridge venue seats just 16 people, while the second Tin of Sardines can be found in Trevor’s hometown of Poole.
Ben said of the new bar: “As someone born and bred in Sunderland and as a family embedded in the region’s hospitality industry for decades, we knew this was an opportunity we couldn’t miss out on and were sold on the idea of bringing it to the city as soon as we set eyes on it.
“There aren’t many sites in the North East that could come close to this aesthetically,” he added. The renovation of the former toilets was made possible by a £250,000 investment from Sunderland City Council, assisted by grant funding courtesy of The Coastal Communities Fund.
Tin of Sardines on Pier View serves breakfast, brunch and lunch options from 8:30am to 3pm, while sharing boards are available from 3pm to 9pm on weekdays or until 7pm on weekends. Opening times are 8:30am-11:30pm Sunday to Thursday, and 8:30am-12:30am on Friday and Saturday. Customers wishing to book a spot from the bottomless brunch can email manager@tinofsardinesroker.co.uk, with spots available between 10am and 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
