A Sunderland travel insurer has expanded with the acquisition of a complementary business.
Just Travel Cover said it has marked the recovery of the travel industry by purchasing the travel insurance and scheme specialist business Alpha Underwriting from CPP Secure Limited.
The leisure broker, which specialises in cover for those with pre-existing medical conditions and with no age limit, said it has seen sustained growth in the last year after international travel restrictions were relaxed. The restrictions had impacted business by up to 90%, with the broker reporting a 51% growth in policies sold this calendar year, against pre-Covid levels.
The growth has led to the recruitment of several new staff. Just Travel Cover deals with the public though its website and call centre in Sunderland, and via a UK-wide network of insurance brokers, will provide its new partners with access to its suite of insurance products.
Daley Gore, director at Just Travel Cover, said the acquisition forms part of the broker’s mission to become the market leader in the wholesale market for travel insurance.
He said: “This is an exciting acquisition for Just Travel Cover as we continue to grow this area of our business, as part of our wider growth strategy. It’s been pleasing to recruit new staff too, as we continue to grow in line with an increase in demand for holidays and Travel Insurance.
The deal follows the launch of Just Travel Cover’s launch of Smart Luggage, a new product for delayed and lost luggage which provides a real-time payout if luggage doesn’t arrive when travellers go on holiday.
