Sunderland's Jewison Bennette has been included in the latest Costa Rica squad for their upcoming CONCACAF Nations League games later this month. The 18-year-old is part of a 26-man squad named by national boss Luis Fernando Suarez for the games against Martinique at Fort-de-France next Saturday, and against Panama in San Jose on Wednesday, March 29.
Costa Rica are second in the three-team Group B of CONCACAF Nations League A, and must beat both Martinique and Panama in order to finish top of the group and advance to the semi-finals. Bennette, who came off the bench in Sunderland's Championship draw against Luton Town yesterday, became the youngest player to win a senior cap for Costa Rica in August 2021 when he made his debut at the age of 17 years and two months.
He was part of Los Ticos' squad for the World Cup in Qatar in November last year. Bennette becomes the seventh member of Sunderland's first team squad to receive an international call-up in the current round of fixtures.
