The streets of Sunderland will be illuminated in rainbow colours next weekend, as the annual PRIDE event returns to the city centre.
The global Coronavirus pandemic put a halt to in-person proceedings in 2020, with a virtual event being held last year out of caution as cases were still rife - but this year, organisers are confident that the usual celebrations can return in a safe manner.
And in timely fashion, this year's theme for the event is none other than the Queen's Jubilee - following the four-day bank holiday extravaganza for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum honours from June 2-5.

The festival celebrating all things LGBT+ will take place on Saturday 11 June and Sunday 12 June - with a range of activities taking place to bring communities together.
The celebrations will kick off with a traditional Pride Parade leaving from Sunderland College City Campus in Park Lane from 12pm on Saturday. Groups will march through the city until they reach Sunniside, where the main stage will be open from 1pm.
On Sunday, the stage will again open at 1pm with performances from a plethora of local talent running until 6pm.
Hosting the event are drag queens Lucy Phurr and Penny T, with a number of star studded faces from across the North East performing. Scarlett Harlett and Choriza May will take to the stage with hilarious drag acts, while DJs Michael Maddison, SMASHBY and Louis Crisp will be spinning the decks and no doubt providing a fantastic atmosphere.
