The city of Sunderland has been named one of the UK's 'most miserable' places to live in an annual Office for National Statistics poll.
The city by the sea was ranked 13th worst in terms of 'happiness' in a national survey regarding personal wellbeing, which asks participants for a rating between one and ten for criteria such as life satisfaction, how worthwhile they feel, and levels of anxiety and depression.
On 'happiness' the national average teeters around 7.45 out of 10, while residents of Sunderland voted their feelings slightly lower at the 7.1 mark. In terms of 'life satisfaction' Wearsiders voted 7.1 out of 10, 'worthwhile' 7.4 out of 10 and 'anxiety' 3.2 out of ten respectively.
And while Sunderland was the only North East location to rank within the top 20 miserable places, North Tyneside just missed out by ranking in 21st.
