Sunderland drug dealer caught with 750g of cocaine at his home jailed

A drug dealer caught with thousands of pounds of cocaine has been jailed.

Jahangir Bararjani already had a conviction on his record for possessing heroin with intent when he did the same thing with cocaine. When officers went to his home for an unrelated matter, they found 750g of the drug, worth up to £22,000.

Newcastle Crown Court heard officers also found cutting agent and concluded he was supplying to "mid-level dealers". Messages recovered from his Snapchat account revealed his involvement in high value drugs transactions.

Bararjani, 37, of Meadow Street, East Rainton, in Sunderland, near Houghton-le-Spring, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to supply. He was jailed for six years. Sentencing him, Recorder James Wood QC said: "You have been completely realistic and pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity."

The court heard he was jailed for four years in 2011 at Swansea Crown Court for possessing heroin with intent to supply.

Vic Laffey, defending, said Bararjani was not enjoying a lavish lifestyle and was living in a council house. He added: "He was foolish and took a chance. He succumbed to temptation."
