Sunderland have confirmed a new date for their home game against League One leaders Rotherham United. The Black Cats will take on the Millers at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday, April 26, with kick-off at 7.45pm.
The fixture was originally due to be played a week on Saturday - March 26 - but the game was postponed due to international call-ups. Clubs that have at least three players called up for international duty at either senior or U21 levels can ask the EFL to postpone their league game.
Rotherham defender Shane Ferguson has been included in the latest Northern Ireland squad, while forward Joshua Kayode has been called up by Republic of Ireland U21. The Millers have been notified of at least one other call-up, although it has not yet been made public, which meant they were able to request a postponement.
As things stand, Sunderland would not have had sufficient call-ups to have asked for the game to be moved. Corry Evans and Trai Hume have been included in the Northern Ireland senior squad for the friendlies against Luxembourg and Hungary, but Bailey Wright was not included in the latest Australia squad for the Socceroos' World Cup qualifiers against Japan and Saudia Arabia meaning they missed out on a third call-up.
Dennis Cirkin and Callum Doyle have represented England at U20 and U19 levels respectively this season, but call-ups below U21 level do not count towards the three that clubs need in order to ask for a postponement.
