Sunderland brute attacked woman when she interrupted sex to say she needed to see brother

A violent thug strangled, hit, stamped on and threw paint over a woman because she interrupted them having sex by saying she needed to see her brother.

Michael Wallace and the victim had been drinking in a pub in Sunderland last May and ended up going back to her home. All was going well until she mentioned needing to see her sibling.

Helen Towers, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court : "This angered him. He straddled her, slapped and punched her multiple times before grabbing her neck and starting to strangle her, shouting 'you've made me do this'.

"She struggled to breathe and believed she was going to die. She managed to get up by kicking him in the testicles.

"He forced her to the floor and stamped on her face twice. She got in the foetal position, believing she was going to die.

"The defendant then threw an open tin of paint, covering her with with the paint, shouting 'all you are bothered about while having sex is seeing your f****** brother."

The victim eventually managed to flee and ran to her uncle's home nearby, where she burst in barefooted and with her clothes ripped. She also had injuries, including bruising and a soft tissue injury causing issues with her eye.

She said in a victim impact statement: "During the attack I was genuinely terrified for my life. I thought I was going to die"

Wallace, 40, of Quarry Road, Sunderland, who has 33 previous convictions, including assaults, was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was jailed for two years. He was also given a ten-year restraining order.

Wallace, who represented himself, said he works in the construction industry, lives with his parents and has regular contact with his daughter. He added that he was sorry for what he had done.
