Dennis Cirkin is still feeling the after-effects of his recent concussion, leading to his absence from the Sunderland squad that travelled to Coventry City yesterday. Cirkin suffered a head injury as he scored Sunderland's equaliser against Millwall at The Den at the beginning of February which kept him out for ten days and saw him miss two games as he followed the concussion protocols, before being eased back into action from the bench against QPR and Bristol City.
He made his first start since the injury in the midweek defeat at Rotherham but was substituted after an hour. Black Cats boss Tony Mowbray revealed that Cirkin did not feel right against Rotherham and has been sent for scan as a precaution.
"It's a carry-on from his concussion," said Mowbray, when asked about Cirkin's absence following the 2-1 defeat at the CBS Arena. "He's been feeling dazed and not clear-headed, a bit dizzy.
