Sunderland have advertised the position of academy manager after Lewis Dickman left the club last month. Dickman was in his second spell with the club having worked at the Football Association before returning to Wearside in February 2021.
He spent eight months in the role, combined with Head of Coaching. Stuart English is currently in charge of the academy on an interim basis.
The advertisement states: "Following promotion to the Championship Sunderland AFC are continuing to strengthen both on and off the pitch. We are actively seeking a new Academy Manager who will oversee the strategic and tactical development of all key academy functions.

"The individual will also be responsible for all administrative and regulatory requirements. Based at the club’s Academy of Light, considered amongst the best football training facilities in Europe, we’re a Cat 1 Academy and home to all the club’s representative teams, from the youngest age groups through to the U18, U23 and senior squads as well as the Sunderland Ladies team."
The Executives in Sport Group are conducting the process on behalf of Sunderland as they look to fill the vacant role. The Academy manager will be responsible for both staff and players within the Academy of Light set-up.
