Summer storms, gusty winds and hail are expected in Bangkok and upper Thailand from Sunday to Tuesday, the Meteorological Department warned on Saturday.
A moderate high-pressure area from China will extend to the upper country and the South China Sea. Hot weather will remain in upper Thailand, with southerly and southeasterly winds prevailing over the country, the weather agency said.
With these conditions, summer storms, gusty winds, and hail are expected to hit the Northeast first. They will then affect provinces in the North, the Central Plains, including Bangkok and vicinity, the East and the upper South from Sunday to Tuesday.
On Sunday, five provinces in the North (Nan, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Phichit and Phetchabun) and 14 provinces in the Northeast (Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Mukdahan, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchani) will be affected.
On Monday, they will affect nine provinces in the North (Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Tak, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Kamphaeng Phet and Phetchabun), all provinces in the Northeast, 14 provinces in the Central Plains (Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom), Greater Bangkok, all provinces in the East, and two provinces in the South (Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan).
On Tuesday, two provinces in the North (Tak and Kamphaeng Phet), three provinces in the Northeast (Surin, Buri Ram and Nakhon Ratchasima), eight provinces in the Central Plains (Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom), Greater Bangkok, five provinces in the East (Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat), and two provinces in the South (Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan) will be affected.
