Summer sounds

As a sign of approaching summer, wind chimes hang in the workshop of the Shinohara Furin Honpo shop in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, waiting to be shipped as a soothing way to beat the heat. The traditional Edo furin wind chimes are made by blowing air into molten glass to form a round shape that is painted with summery decorations such as goldfish and hydrangea. Established in 1915, the store will ship up to 1,000 wind chimes a day.
