Summer in the city: is Kate Hudson the latest star to fall for leafy north London?

Once a Londoner, always a Londoner? It seems to be so for Hollywood star Kate Hudson, who is rumoured to be back in her former stomping ground for the summer season.

The Glass Onion actress, who moved away from the capital after her split with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy in 2014, is believed to have taken on a short-term let in north London’s Primrose Hill.

Local sources have confirmed Hudson’s pied-à-terre as a house tucked away in the pretty village, boasting a “generous” sun trap roof terrace. Hudson’s neighbours will be other A-listers such as Calvin Harris.

According to the property’s listing, the weekly rent is almost £4,000 and while this is a hefty price tag the house is still a big downgrade from Hudson’s sprawling mansion in LA’s Pacific Palisades district. Her main residence has its own pool and spa and a 7,000-square-foot guesthouse.

The LA property was the actress’ childhood home and was bought by Hudson’s mother Goldie Hawn and her longtime partner Kurt Russell in the 1970s. They eventually sold the property but Hudson decided to buy it back in the mid-2000s for £4.3 million ($5.5 million).

Her holiday let might not be quite as spacious, but it has other benefits, not least being near the London home of Bellamy, with who she has an 11-year-old son, Bingham. Bellamy told the Guardian that he splits his time between LA, where he spends school term times, and holidays in London.

Hudson is now engaged to Danny Fujikawa, her boyfriend of five years and father of her daughter Rani but she and Bellamy are still close.

Earlier this month, the actress was even spotted on a night out in London with Bellamy’s new wife Elle Evans. The pair attended a gala performance of the musical Cabaret before heading on to Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone.

The actress is clearly enjoying her UK holiday, and popped up in the VIP section at Glastonbury festival to sing along with Elton John’s headline Sunday night slot.

“We have been gossiping about that place for months ,” one Primrose Hill local said, adding: “Kate seems really nice, and obviously Matt Bellamy is close by so their son can be near both of them.”

Primrose Hill has long been a celebrity magnet and last year DJ Calvin Harris joined the clan, purchasing a £7.5 million house for him and his fiancé broadcaster Vick Hope. A representative for Kate Hudson was approached for comment.
