Sum 41 SPLIT after almost three decades as fans thank them for 'best songs'

Sum 41 fans are in shock after the band announced it is to split.

The US rockers have been together since 1996 but took to social media to reveal they are going their separate ways.

In their statement, the band said: "Being in Sum 41 since 1996 brought us some of the best moments of our lives. We are forever grateful to our fans both old and new, who have supported us in every way.

"It is hard to articulate the love and respect we have for all of you and we wanted you to hear this from us first."

They continued: "Sum 41 will be disbanding. We will still be finishing all of our current upcoming tour dates this year, and we're looking forward to releasing our final album "Heaven :x: Hell", along with a final worldwide headlining tour to celebrate."

The band concluded by saying they are excited to see what the future holds and by thanking its fans for "the last 27 years of Sum 41".

The love for the band was evident in the instant reaction online.

Many fans took to the post to share their sadness at the news but to also show their gratitude for the tunes over the years.

One user wrote: "You all got me through so me serious times! Thankful for all your work."

Another shared a similar message, writing: "Gonna miss you. But I wish you all the best on whatever comes next."

A third added: "And what a ride it’s been. You’ve produced some of the best songs ever. #ThanksSum41"

And a fourth penned: "No way! Your music has always hit hard and been filled with raw emotion, thanks for making 27 years worth of great music."

The band had a number of huge hits, including Fat Lip, Still Waiting and Motivation.
