The original Sugababes revealed they are “excited” to reunite for the first time in 21 years at Glastonbury 2022.
The trio - made up of Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Doherty - recently confirmed they would be performing on the Avalon Stage at next month’s music festival.
Sugababes teased their performance this summer is going to be “special”.
“This is going to be something special for our fans. We can’t wait,” Buchanan told The Sun.
On social media, the group also confirmed their Glastonbury slot.
They wrote: “@glastofest, we are SO excited to be playing this year. See you June 24th Avalon Stage.”
The post came much to the excitement of their loyal fans - some of which begged the band to release some new music.
“Give us new music, girls! We need New Sugababes music!!!” wrote one fan.
Another added: “AMAZING!!!! Can’t wait to see all your talented faces.”
Formed in 90s, the Sugababes became quite notorious for replacing band members throughout the next decade.
Donaghy left the group in 2001, meaning it’s been 21 years since the original band performed.
By 2009, none of the original musicians remained in the group.
Instead it was made up of Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen.
The original three Sugababes later reformed and regained the band name in 2019 before going on to re-release their debut album.
While the Sugababes had big plans to come together during the last two years, Covid concerns had put reunion performances on hold.
Speaking on social media about the band’s plans, Buchanan said: “We had so many plans for last year.
“2020 was our anniversary year, we built it up to do so many things but it didn’t happen, so we have to restructure.
“We just have to be motivated to do it and passionate about it and once we are actually in the studio it flows really easily for us.”
“But it’s about getting us all on the same page on the same date and the pandemic makes it really tricky.”
This year’s upcoming festival is likely to be a packed weekend of musical talent.
Sugababes have joined a stellar list of artists that have confirmed for this year’s Glastonbury including Sir Paul McCartney, Diana Ross and Kendrick Lamar.
