Sugababes are set to perform at a yet-to-be-named London station for first-of-its-kind music festival TrainLive.
Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhan Donaghy will sing after an array of up-and-coming artists from the capital as well as buskers on Friday, December 8, from 1pm.
Isaac Levy, Stone Jets, Billy Crabbe, Ella Tobin, and Dan Tredget are also on the bill for the free festival, which is sponsored by rail ticket website the Trainline.
The top-secret London station location will be revealed to ticket holders on Friday morning (december 8), with organisers commenting that the Sugababes 2004 hit Push the Button would be fitting to perform to passengers.
The trio have a Christmas cover lined up to perform alongside hits such as Too Lost in You and Hole in the Head.
A statement from Sugababes read: “When Trainline asked us to headline its first-ever music event in a London station we were excited to be part of it, particularly when we heard that the event will be supporting up and coming music talent, giving them a platform to perform.
“This will be an intimate gig for us, and with all of us being born and bred in London, we’re excited to perform.”
Sugababes have been touring this year and released single When the Rain Comes ahead of their ninth studio album which is set for release next year. The trio performed at The Garage back in London, which the Standard rated five stars, and also at London’s BST festival alongside Take That, before the V&A summer party.
Trainline executive Sakshi Anand added: “Now we want to get Christmas off to a great start, too, by hosting our first ever music festival in a station.
“From new artists to our iconic headliners, we hope our festive festival helps bring a moment of joy to travellers this Christmas."
The station could be anything from the humongous Waterloo to the tiny Wimbledon Park. Liverpool Street might also make a good venue, having hosted T Mobile’s flash mob advert in 2009, while Southwark’s architecture might provide good acoustics. As for the Sugababes themselves, Mutya is from Kingsbury, Siobhan is from Eastcote, and Keisha was born in Westminster.
