Sugababes reunite for Glastonbury with original line-up for the first time in 21 years

The original Sugababes trio are back together and gearing up to take to the stage at Glastonbury festival.

Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Doherty delighted fans after making the announcement that they were making a comeback.

Sugababes, one of the biggest girlbands of all time, will perform on the Avalon stage on June 24 alongside other huge names such as Sir Paul McCartney, Diana Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat and Megan McKenna.

Keisha told The Sun: "This is going to be something special for our fans. We can’t wait.”

Fans flocked to comment, with one annoucing: "Everyone is so ready".

Another said: "OMG Sugababes are back."

A third said: "Incredible."

The singers were initially supposed to make their return last year, which would have been their 20th anniversary, but it was postponed due to Covid.

During an Instagram Live over the weekend, Keisha said: “We had so many plans for last year.

“2020 was our anniversary year, we built it up to do so many things but it didn’t happen, so we have to restructure.

“We just have to be motivated to do it and passionate about it and once we are actually in the studio it flows really easily for us."

They decided to focus on their careers as individuals, rather than as a group after they missed the anniversary.

Keisha now lives in Canada, where she is pursuing an acting career, while Mutya is working on her own music.

“But it’s about getting us all on the same page on the same date and the pandemic makes it really tricky.

“It just has to be organic and be on the same page as far as our schedules are concerned.”

Siobhan was also nervous to return to the studio during the pandemic as she had a young son.

The trio are also performing at Mighty Hoopla festival in early June.

Siobhan took to Instagram and said: "At long last I hear you say! It’s happening! Whoop! Can’t wait to see you guys there."

It's been 11 years since the final member of Sugababes was replaced, which many fans called the end of the group.

The band formed in the late 90s, and has gone through four incarnations, which had resulted in new band members completely replacing the original three.

Initially Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan decided to reform a new band called MKS, but it didn't take off in the way they had hoped.

Siobhan was the first to leave the band in 2001, sparking rumours that she escaped the group through a bathroom window during a press conference, which she has since denied.

According to Digital Spy, she later revealed that she was suffering from clinical depression and that she turned to music as her therapy.

Mutya left the band in 2005 to pursue a solo career and had chart success with "Real Girl" which peaked at two and "Song 4 Mutya" at number eight in 2007.

In 2009 she entered the Celebrity Big Brother house before training to be a child psychologist.

Keisha, who was the longest serving member of the band left in 2009 to pursue her acting career.
