Newly released footage shows Sudiksha Konanki vomiting at a hotel bar in the Dominican Republic, hours before she disappeared, with person of interest Joshua Riibe.
Konanki, a 19-year-old pre-med student from the University of Pittsburgh, traveled to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for spring break with friends, NDTV reported. On the night of March 5, she was seen at a nightclub before heading to the beach with Riibe, a college student from Minnesota whom she met that night.
Surveillance footage captured them walking together before she vanished. Authorities suspect she may have drowned but have not ruled out foul play, as Riibe has given conflicting statements about their last moments together.
On March 6, Konanki and Riibe were separately recorded at the Riu República Hotel bar, both appearing intoxicated. Footage shows Konanki stepping away to vomit before rejoining friends, while Riibe was seen in distress outside.
Hours later, Konanki disappeared after allegedly entering the ocean with Riibe. Investigators found her clothes on a beach chair but have yet to locate her body.
Riibe remains a person of interest and is barred from leaving the country. Meanwhile, Dominican authorities continue searching for Konanki, while her family pushes for answers, suspecting foul play.
