Recent reports from Sudan have revealed a disturbing incident involving the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacking the village of Galgani in the central province of Sennar. The attack, which began in late July, resulted in the deaths of at least 85 people, including women and children. According to authorities and residents, the RSF fighters engaged in looting, burning houses, and indiscriminately opening fire on unarmed villagers.

The violence escalated after the residents resisted attempts by the RSF fighters to abduct and sexually assault women and girls. More than 150 villagers were wounded during the attack, which lasted for hours and left a trail of destruction in its wake.

Witnesses described how hundreds of RSF fighters stormed the village, looting and burning properties after facing initial resistance from the residents. The situation worsened when a larger group of RSF fighters returned with heavy weapons, leading to further casualties and chaos.

As of the latest reports, the local medical center has received at least 80 bodies, including women and minors. The situation on the ground remains dire, with villagers unable to recover and bury their dead due to the ongoing violence.

This incident is just one in a series of atrocities attributed to the RSF since the conflict in Sudan began over a year ago. The RSF has been accused of massacres, rapes, and other gross violations across the country, leading to widespread displacement and suffering among the population.

International efforts to address the conflict have been ongoing, with the United States taking a leading role in peace talks between the military and the RSF. However, the talks have faced challenges, including the recent boycott by the military and the absence of the RSF delegation in Geneva.

The conflict in Sudan has had devastating consequences, with tens of thousands of people killed and millions forced to flee their homes. The situation has also led to famine in certain regions, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis.

The international community, including the United Nations and various diplomatic partners, continues to work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Sudan, with a focus on ending the violence and addressing the widespread human rights abuses that have occurred.
