Manchester United fans have been left outraged after France head coach Didier Deschamps opted to not select a replacement for Karim Benzema after the Ballon d'Or winner had to withdraw from the World Cup.
Benzema suffered a thigh injury on Saturday during training and it was announced late that evening that the Real Madrid striker would not be playing any part in Qatar. Deschamps did have the option to replace the 34-year-old before their first match against Australia on Tuesday.
However, in an interview on Sunday, the French head coach bluntly explained that he had opted to go with a smaller squad for the tournament. Deschamps decision was another setback for United striker Anthony Martial.

Now Martial has been overlooked again, United fans have been left raging with Deschamps' decision. Here is what some United supporters have had to say on Twitter.
Martial has missed a large part of the season due to two injuries but on his return, the 26-year-old has scored four goals in seven appearances. Now that the forward will not be on the plane to Qatar, he will remain with United for the winter break and should take part in the friendlies in Spain next month.
