SCOTTISH thespian Brian Cox has launched an auction charity’s latest prize draw to raise money for Alzheimer’s research.
Auctioneering charity Omaze is offering the public the chance to win a house in the Scottish Highlands worth £4 million – plus £250k in cash. Paid entries start from £10.
The home will come mortgage free, with stamp-duty and legal fees covered.
Omaze estimates that the £250,000 supplementary prize would allow the winner to run the house for more than five years. The house also comes with £160,000 worth of furnishings.
Local estate agents estimate that the property could score a long-term rental value of between £8,000-£10,000 per month.
The Succession actor said: “I’ve been a proud ambassador of Alzheimer’s Research UK for many years, having witnessed first-hand the destruction dementia causes. It robbed me of my brother and brother-in-law.
“There are almost one million people living with dementia in the UK. And if nothing changes, one in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime – either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both.”
Cox continued: “So there has never been a greater need to support Alzheimer’s Research UK’s search for a cure.

Together, we really can end the heartbreak of dementia.”
The house sits within the Loch Rannoch and Glen Lyon National Scenic Area Perth and Kinross. It is said to offer "uninterrupted views of the surrounding Scottish Highlands including the Black Woods of Rannoch and the Southern Rannoch mountains".
It also has an all-weather tennis court.
