Successful trip for Lakelanders swimmers as PBs all round

A number of local swimmers from Co Fermanagh hit personal bests in the pool at an event in Bangor last weekend.

15 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders travelled to the Aurora Aquatic Leisure Complex, to compete in the second round of Swim Ulster’s ‘Aspiring Champions’ Meet Series

After attending the local swimming club chairperson Sara Lannon praised the coaching team and the club volunteers who helped out over the two days.

Sara also hailed the 15 swimmers who she said had trained hard in the weeks leading up to the event.

“Another successful weekend for the Lakelanders, representing the South-West region in Bangor. I was really impressed with our swimmers’ performances and the maturity of our athletes,” Sara said.

“This spectacular 50m pool was the perfect venue for the many challenging events the Fermanagh swimmers were eager to dive into over the weekend.

“A very enjoyable weekend for the swimmers, coaches and parents as we see our team progress into a long course season.”

“The focus now turns to our Junior swimmers with next weekend seeing the Lakelanders host the first home gala in 2 years - sure to be an exciting morning of swimming.”

Among the top results for the club at the meeting were talented 14-year-old Jamie Lannon, who competed in seven events overall and finished first in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

Anna McDade, 16, also saw success in the 100m breaststroke, rounding off an impressive performance for the Enniskillen swimmers.
