Successful day for Ireland at World Rowing Championships

It was another successful day for Ireland at the World Rowing Championships as a number of Irish athletes successfully progressed through their heats.

It was the lightweight double of Aoife Casey and Margaret Cremen that impressed as they took on Olympic champions Italy and progressed in first place and capturing a semi-final berth.

Bronze medal winners Aifric Keogh, Eimear Lambe, Fiona Murtagh and Emily Hegarty won their heat, finishing ahead of Romania.

Sanita Puspure and Zoe Hyde also won their heat in the women's double sculls.

Jack Dorney, Nathan Timoney, Ross Corrigan and John Kearney are through to the semi-finals of the mean's four team wjile Katie O'Brien finished second in her heat to progress.

Natalie Long and Tara Hanlon also qualified in second while Alison Bergin missed out on a spot in the A-B semi-final.
